Bronze and Concrete

River Depot by Jeremy Wolf of Milwaukee, says to children: “Let’s have some fun.” The oversized animals, all native to Wisconsin, are bronze castings. They are designed for climbing and sliding by intrepid tots. The train engine and cars, formed from concrete, are reminiscent of bygone years when the West Bend Depot saw daily trains carrying people to and from Milwaukee. In addition, scattered groupings of large granite boulders found in the glaciated region are a magnet for children to climb. The sculpture is located near the restored historic railway depot in the hub of downtown West Bend and the heavily used Eisenbahn Trail. Private donations from the community funded this sculpture.
